78.  LEMON THEMED CAKES

Manuela Michieli                 Thursday 1 pm - 9 pm                   $260

If life gives us lemons… we turn them into lemon themed miniatures (part 2).  Students will learn many polymer clay techniques needed to create cakes: especially a jelly cheesecake, a bundt cake and a roll will be useful to learn about cream, sponge texture and other useful tips to create sweets, of course, being a lemon-themed workshop, lemons (whole and sliced) will be a must.
In this workshop you will also learn how to create unique cakes starting from unsuspected common objects.  The focus is on polymer clay; each item has been chosen carefully for this purpose. Polymer clay basics and advanced information will be given and used: translucent, liquid and normal polymer clay will have no more secrets for you.  Beginners are very welcome. Be aware that we will work with very tiny pieces, so steady hands and a magnifier lamp is highly recommended.  NOTE : No pottery or table will be done in this workshop so, if you do not attend my “Lemon themed kitchen accessories” workshop too, you are welcome to bring your own items to complete the cake set up or, if you prefer, you may ask for getting those objects readymade (polymerclay "ceramics"+ tiled table), in this latter case please contact teacher directly for information and availability.  The third picture shows the composition made by items created in both workshops, items made in this one are highlighted by a red arrow.  The last picture is the result of both workshops.  Polymerclay needed to create those cakes and lemons are included. Teacher will have some tools to share however, students are welcome to bring their own. On my blog at  www.manuelamichieli.com you will find the complete list of tool used.

All supplies are provided by the instructor except as indicated, however, students are  welcome to bring their own tools & supplies.
