48.  INTRODUCTION INTO PETIT POINT IN MINIATURE

If you have ever wondered what Petit Point in Miniature is and how such tiny, detailed needlework is created, this workshop is for you!  This hands-on introductory class is designed especially for beginners. Participants will learn about silk gauze and how to work with it, how to select the correct silk threads and needles for different gauze counts, which stitches are most suitable for miniature needlework, and how to block and finish a completed piece.  Petit point is a form of counted needlework stitched on fine interlock canvas as silk gauze. The instructor will share practical techniques and helpful tips for stitching accurately and neatly on a miniature scale.  Participants will work on a charming floral design featuring a central rose surrounded by smaller blossoms and leaves. The completed needlework can be finished as a beautiful miniature pillow or as a wall art, a lovely addition to any dollhouse interior.  This workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to continue working with silk gauze and begin creating miniature petit point masterpieces of your own.  The kit includes all essential supplies, including silk gauze, hoop, needles, cotton and/or silk floss, easy to follow instructions.  Students are advised to bring their favorite sharp scissors, additional light, and a magnifier, if needed.
