45. THE LONDON PUB
IN 1:144 SCALE
Nancy Froseth Thursday 9a-5p $65
A pub (public house) is license to sell alcoholic drinks. In many countries it is more than a hand out for drinkers, it is a social gathering place. Samuel Pepys, in his 17th century diary described the pub as “the heart of England”. A 1393 law required pubs to have an outdoor sign. This led to sometimes fanciful names such as “Pig and Whistle”, “The Cat and Fiddle”, etc. This miniature pub is 1/144th scale and houses a bar and stools, bottle cupboard, three tables with benches, and is lighted from the second floor.
